ditec: The company -

History

ditec – 40 years of masterful seal technology "made in Kitzingen"

When Manfred Adam, already a seasoned mechanical engineer and former department head in expansion joint construction, founded ditec in Kitzingen in 1973, he had a trove of experience to draw on across a wide variety of industries.

Even in the first years of its existence, the company produced high-quality fabric expansion joints for power plant and plant construction projects by large, well-known companies that continue to be part of the company's loyal customer base today.

It is impossible to imagine not having Adam Metallbau GmbH as a permanent feature of ditec. Adam Metallbau GmbH has been on the grounds with us ever since our relocation to Kitzingen's industrial area Hafen in 1988. As our in-house supplier, Adam Metallbau GmbH manufactures all steel elements used in the expansion joints, helping us achieve invaluable time and flexibility gains in our materials flow and workflow thanks to its direct connection to the ditec factory.

On the whole, the principle of providing all services from a single source and of concentrating know-how and the entirety of the workflow from enquiry to shipment under one roof has played an important role in ensuring our family business's security of supply: the in-house carpentry, the calendar, the in-factory vulcanising plant, and of course Adam Metallbau GmbH all crucially contributed to making  ditec Dichtungstechnik GmbH independent of external vendors and occasional material bottlenecks.

Very quickly, word of the outstanding quality consciousness, high performance and profound technical expertise of the Kitzingen seal technicians began to spread through technical circles. Over the decades, this expertise has been expanded continuously to deal with a steady stream of challenges in terms of material flexibility and pressure resistance. No wonder then that the company was able to establish a foothold in the emerging growth market of rubber expansion joints, even developing this segment into its mainstay over the past decade.

The two children of the company's founder have been crucially involved in the enormous developments and geographic expansion since joining the team in 1996: Christoph Adam, who has a degree in chemical engineering and Gabriele Adam, the company's accountant, with her wide-ranging foreign language skills. From the very beginning, they integrated themselves into a team (at the time comprising 27 employees) in a spirit of partnership, and have since been able to establish numerous new agency relationships and partnerships on European and international markets.

Today, the two siblings manage the company as co-equal Managing Directors together with the company's founder.

Annual sales, which at that time amounted to € 2.5 million, have now grown to € 9 million, with the export share increased to approximately 45%.
